Morocco Extends COVID-19 Emergency Measures as Vaccine Rollout Begins

Faced with an unflattering epidemiological situation, Morocco has extended the state of health emergency throughout the national territory until February 10, 2021.

This decision was made during the Council of Ministers held on Thursday, January 7, 2021, in Rabat. It is part of the efforts to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

On Wednesday, the Minister of Health approved the temporary emergency use authorization of the "Covidshield" vaccine manufactured by AstraZeneca. On Tuesday, Morocco received its first batch of anti-Covid vaccine from the Chinese laboratory Sinopharm.

As of January 6, 2021, the Covid-19 report shows 447,081 cases of contamination.
