Morocco Extends COVID-19 State of Emergency Until June 10

The state of health emergency has been extended until June 10, 2021, in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus and its variants in Morocco. This is the decision taken by the Council of Government.
In a statement read during a press conference held at the end of the council, Saaïd Amzazi, Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, said that the council had approved draft decree No. 2.21.132 relating to the extension of the duration of the state of health emergency throughout the national territory to deal with the spread of the new coronavirus, presented by the Minister of the Interior.
"In the concern of the public authorities to continue to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the measures and provisions taken to deal with the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, this draft decree aims to extend the effective date of the state of health emergency throughout the national territory from Monday, May 10, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. to Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.," the minister specified.
As of May 7, the Covid-19 report in Morocco shows 513,314 cases of contamination, 500,192 recoveries and 9,057 deaths. Since January 2021, 5,429,878 people have received a first dose of the Covid vaccine, while 4,363,261 have already received the second dose.
