Morocco: Exchange of gunfire in the middle of the night in Ouarzazate, a large manhunt launched

The night from Monday to Tuesday was particularly agitated in the Aït Kdif region of Ouarzazate. A police operation against a drug trafficking network turned into an armed confrontation, triggering a large-scale manhunt to find the fleeing suspects.

The security alert is at its maximum since this exchange of gunfire that occurred during a field intervention. The suspects were traveling in a Hyundai vehicle with forged license plates when they found themselves facing the security forces. The situation quickly deteriorated, leading to the use of firearms.

In their desperate attempt to flee, the traffickers lost control of their car, which ended up in an excavation, allowing the agents to seize quantities of hashish and cocaine abandoned inside the vehicle.

Although the individuals managed to evaporate into the darkness, a significant force has been immediately deployed to find them. Reinforcements from the Royal Gendarmerie, supported by tracking dogs, are currently combing the area, inspecting farms and under bridges where the fugitives, possibly wounded by gunfire during the shootout, could have taken refuge.

The investigations are actively continuing to intercept the members of this criminal network and determine the ramifications of this case.
