In collaboration with the authorities and the police forces, the elements of the Royal Gendarmerie proceeded on Saturday to the arrest of these three members of the network, caught in the act of illegal gold extraction in the middle of the night, reports Assabah, specifying that important modern logistical means, including the latest generation of metal detectors, were seized on the spot.

This area would be teeming with a considerable quantity of gold nuggets, arousing the interest of many networks that carry out illegal extraction operations there. The operation follows close surveillance of the members of the criminal network, who were followed as they headed towards the area in two off-road vehicles. Some of them managed to flee in one of the vehicles after the unexpected intervention of the gendarmes, details the daily newspaper.

The three defendants were taken into custody, under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office and at the disposal of the investigation. The investigations continue to find the fugitives. Other members of the network could be apprehended in the coming days.
