At Tangier, the traffic of 1.2 tons of cannabis intercepted just in time, a police officer injured
The elements of the Auxiliary Forces thwarted a vast drug trafficking operation on Wednesday evening in Tangier. The intervention took place in the Rmilat area, and made it possible to intercept a large shipment of drugs intended for export.
In total, 55 bales of cannabis resin were seized, representing an estimated weight of around 1,250 kilograms. The authorities had spotted the suspicious movements of a group of about thirty people who were busy transferring the goods to a waiting speedboat.
Warning shots and an injured agent
The operation was marked by a tense confrontation. Faced with the network’s refusal to comply with the arrest orders, the law enforcement officers had to use their weapons to fire warning shots. This action caused the traffickers to flee, but the intervention resulted in the injury of a member of the Auxiliary Forces.
The judicial police have opened an investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office and are currently conducting sweeping operations in the area to find the suspects involved in this attempted international trafficking.
