Morocco Emerges as Top Holiday Destination for French Travelers Despite Inflation

Morocco is one of the preferred destinations for the French for this holiday season. They wish to go there to enjoy the sunny days.

Inflation is not preventing the French from traveling abroad or within the country during this holiday season. Inflation "does not really influence the number of French people who are leaving" on Christmas holidays, confirms on franceinfo Valérie Boned, president of the Travel Companies, stating that "those who leave and still have the means are devoting a budget to it." She will specify that the level of bookings is "quite stable for France" and on the rise for abroad. About 50% of the French’s vacation expenses are devoted to the France destination. "The occupancy rate in the mountains is very good with more than 80%, or more than 10% compared to last year," emphasizes Valérie Boned.

Many French people also want to go abroad to enjoy the sunny days. Spain is their first preferred destination. "The sun not too far away. It is really Spain, the Canaries, Tenerife that are performing, that are coming in first place," specifies the president of the Travel Companies. The French have also set their sights on Morocco. "Morocco has regained its colors after what happened in September and the earthquake," as well as "Tunisia," she says. The French are also in love with a more distant destination: Mauritius. It is "a destination that has been really working for a year and that is confirming its position," assures Boned. And to add: The Dominican Republic "attracts the French, even if it is a little less well served in terms of companies."
