Morocco, a huge success with French tourists

The French are at the top of the podium of foreign tourists who visited Morocco in 2023. The kingdom remains their number one non-European destination.
4.88 million French tourists arrived in Morocco in 2023. A historic record. They represent more than a third of the total of 14.5 million foreign tourists welcomed in the kingdom last year, according to Le Figaro, which relied on figures provided by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT). The French are followed by the Spanish and the British who close the top 3. The destinations favored by French tourists and sun lovers are Marrakech, Agadir and the rising destination, Tangier.
According to OMNT figures, arrivals jumped 34% compared to 2022, exceeding the pre-Covid-2019 peak (13 million visitors). Tourism has "reached a new historic milestone" with 14.5 million visitors, "i.e. 34% more than in 2022," the Office said in a press release. "We have exceeded our pre-crisis reference figures," a spokesman for the Office told the French newspaper. The increase was particularly pronounced among French globetrotters, up 41% from last year.
