Morocco remains the preferred destination for the French

The French were the most numerous to visit Morocco in the first two months of the year. Nearly 400,000 tourists from the Hexagon arrived in the kingdom during the period.

Between January and February 2024, Morocco welcomed 307,000 French tourists, an increase of 11% compared to the same period last year, reports the daily Aujourd’hui le Maroc. During the period, 2.14 million travelers arrived in the kingdom, an increase of 14% compared to 2023.

Spanish tourists come in second with 189,000 tourists compared to 177,000 at the end of February 2023, an increase of 7%. They are followed by the British with 130,000 tourists who arrived in the kingdom during the first two months of 2024, an increase of 31% compared to the same period in 2023. Italian tourists come in fourth position with 54,000 arrivals at the end of February, an increase of 11%.

"Similarly, 51,000 German tourists visited Morocco in the first two months of the year, marking an improvement of 38% year-on-year. There was also a 25% recovery in tourist arrivals from Belgium (35,000 tourists) at a time when those from the United States fell by 7% to 39,000 travelers compared to 42,000 a year earlier," details the publication.

These figures show that the Moroccan destination continues to attract foreign tourists and motivate the kingdom to give itself the means to achieve its tourism objectives by 2026. By this deadline, Morocco aims to welcome 17.5 million tourists and reach 120 billion dirhams in revenue.
