Marrakech Leads Morocco’s Tourism Boom with 4 Million Overnight Stays in May

The city of Marrakech remains the first tourist destination in terms of overnight stays, with 4 million overnight stays recorded in May 2024. This is revealed by the Tourism Observatory in a document on tourism statistics during the period.
With 4 million overnight stays, Marrakech is at the top of the tourist destinations in Morocco in terms of overnight stays during the month of May. It is followed by Agadir, second with 2.37 million overnight stays and Casablanca, third with 842,542 overnight stays.
From January to May 2024, about 10.5 million overnight stays were recorded, an increase of 8% compared to the same period in 2023. In detail, there were 2.8 million overnight stays for domestic tourists, down 3%, and 7.7 million overnight stays for foreign tourists, up 13%.
During the month of May, 2.6 million overnight stays in classified hotels were recorded, representing an increase of 13% compared to the same month last year (18% for foreign tourists and 3% for nationals).
According to data from the Tourism Observatory, more than 5.9 million tourists arrived in Morocco at the end of May, an increase of 15% compared to last year.
