Morocco Eases Lockdown Restrictions as Businesses Prepare to Reopen

Without a clear directive for the lifting of deconfinement, each brand is preparing in its own way for a return to normal, reports Jeune Afrique. In some sectors of activity that have been closed for nearly two months, it is the resumption of activities. This is the case of a fitness center in Rabat. Its trainers have resumed their duties, but for the moment they are content to maintain the equipment, forgotten since the closure of the club on March 16.

Everyone wants to redesign the space to include floor markings to ensure physical distancing between the expected customers no later than June 11.

Pending the Moroccan deconfinement plan, café managers are drawing inspiration from examples in other countries in order to prepare in a timely manner.

According to the same source, the second extension of the lockdown announced by the Head of Government, Saâdeddine El Othmani, did not convince the Moroccans, already exhausted by two months of inactivity. Three ministers of the government, namely those of Finance, Culture and Small and Medium Enterprises, have respectively announced the resumption of business activities after Eid al-Fitr and the reopening of cafes and restaurants during the lockdown.

For now, life is resuming its course in the major Moroccan cities. Apart from the red taxis that are now circulating, travel between cities is allowed with the presentation of a simple mission order. Added to this is the resumption of train shuttles between Casablanca and Rabat, pending Royal Air Maroc flights.
