Fez Sees Relaxed COVID Measures as City Life Resumes in Morocco

Has life resumed its normal course in Fez? In this region of Morocco, particularly in some popular neighborhoods, the restrictive measures imposed by the health authorities are experiencing a certain relaxation.
Relaxed control measures, dense traffic, non-compliance with the wearing of protective masks. This is the observation made in some localities of the region. In Bendebbab, Bensouda, and Bab Ftouh, customers have been seated on the terrace of a cafe with drinks served since this Saturday, reports L’Économiste.
Activities have resumed in this city that became deserted a few weeks ago, due to the state of health emergency imposed to fight the covid-19 pandemic.
According to the same media, this resumption of activities is also observed in hairdressing salons and car wash services. Has the government already authorized deconfinement in this region of Morocco, which currently has 1,001 cases of covid-19 infections? Is the extension of confinement being trampled on by the inhabitants of Fez-Meknes?
For an opposition MP, this extension of confinement is unfortunately not being implemented. According to him, it would have been necessary to announce an easing of measures rather than an extension that is not respected, or a quiet relaxation (for some activities like hairdressers) that discredits all the effort that has been made.
To recall, several cafes in the kingdom reopened this Monday. They are authorized to offer take-out and not on-site consumption. It remains to be seen whether this authorization will be scrupulously respected in the city of Fez, which has largely exceeded the 1,000 mark of Covid-19 infection cases, like Casablanca-Settat, Marrakech-Safi and Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima.
