Morocco Likely to Extend COVID-19 Lockdown for Two More Weeks

More than two months after the establishment of the state of health emergency, the signs are not yet green to move on to the deconfinement stage in Morocco. The El Othmani government could extend the lockdown again.
Is Morocco heading towards deconfinement or another extension of the state of health emergency? This dream so nurtured by Moroccans is unlikely to come true anytime soon.
According to the daily Assabah, the Moroccan government is preparing to extend the lockdown period "for an additional two weeks" to curb the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Moroccans should be informed of the Executive’s decision this Monday, June 8. For some government members, this third extension of the lockdown period will help contain the pandemic.
In detail, the next 14 days may "allow the virus propagation index R0 to stabilize" before gradually moving towards deconfinement.
During the monthly general policy session of the Head of the Executive, Saâd Eddine El Othmani, on Thursday, June 11 at the House of Representatives, the government’s management of the state of health emergency and the prospects for deconfinement will be on the agenda.
