Morocco Dominates Tanzania 3-0 in African Cup of Nations Opener

The Moroccan team won its match against Tanzania with a clear score of 3-0 on the field of the Laurent Pokou stadium in San Pedro, Côte d’Ivoire.

From the start of the match, the Moroccans showed their determination, trying to score quickly despite the heat and humidity. The Tanzanian team, for its part, tried to surprise the Moroccans, hoping to disrupt their strategy.

As soon as the whistle blew, the Moroccan players multiplied the opportunities to reach the Tanzanian goal, guarded by Aichi Manula. They wanted to avoid any surprise, especially since other Arab teams, such as Egypt and Algeria, had experienced draws or defeats. The Tanzanians responded with counter-attacks, while keeping the ball in their half of the field, in the hope of finding a gap in the Moroccan defense.

The first goal finally came in the 30th minute, scored by Romain Saïss. This goal forced Tanzania to leave its defense to seek the equalizer. The Moroccans, led by Achraf Hakimi, continued to attack, seeking to consolidate their lead. The first half ended with a one-goal advantage for Morocco.

Upon returning from the locker room, the Tanzanian team came back with the intention of equalizing, but the Moroccans managed the first few minutes very carefully, due to the high humidity. Shortly after, the Moroccans regained control of the game. They had several opportunities to score, but lacked precision. The Tanzanians continued their counter-attacks, without success against the solid Moroccan defense.

The situation became complicated for Tanzania after the expulsion of Novatus Miroshi. Morocco then made changes to refresh its midfield. These adjustments bore fruit: Azzedine Ounahi scored the second goal in the 77th minute, followed closely by a third goal (validated by VAR) from Youssef En-Nesyri. The victory was thus sealed for Morocco, which takes the lead in the group. Tanzania, on the other hand, remains without a point. The match between Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, other opponents of the Atlas Lions, is scheduled for this evening at 9 p.m.
