Morocco Coach Regragui Voices Concern Over Midday Heat Ahead of DRC Match

After successfully making their debut by largely dominating Tanzania (0-3) on Wednesday, the Atlas Lions will play their second match of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN Côte d’Ivoire 2024) against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Sunday at 3pm at the San Pedro stadium. A few days before the match, Walid Regragui, coach of the Moroccan national team, expresses concerns.
The kick-off time for the second match of the Atlas Lions does not suit Walid Regragui. He fears the heat at this time of day. "I don’t understand how we can play at this time, for the tournament, for the image of our football... But we will adapt, we have no choice," said the coach of the Moroccan national team at the press conference after the crushing victory (0-3) over Tanzania on Wednesday. "In Africa, we fight against the opponent but also against the climatic conditions. It is a tournament that will be played on the bench and the management of the strong moments," he added.
The Moroccan technician also returned to the match between Morocco and Tanzania. The climatic conditions were not favorable for the Atlas Lions. "As you have seen, the first match is never easy, we played the match later than the other teams, which allowed us to know that things would not be easy." He will explain that his players entered the match with a great spirit, quickly seeking the goal. "And, we missed some chances, but we scored the first goal on a set piece."
And to conclude: "The second half was physically difficult due to the humidity, but despite this, the players adapted to the situation and we managed to score the second goal. The expulsion helped us manage the match and the opponent did not create many chances."
