Morocco Dominates African Track Cycling Championship with Multiple Medals

The Moroccan teams dominated the recent African track cycling championship held from July 14 to 17, 2022 in Abuja, Nigeria, by successively winning several medals.
The Moroccan teams shone at the 2022 African track cycling championship. Moroccan cyclist Raja Chaker won a second gold medal in the women’s category and a bronze medal in the elimination series in the youth category. In the senior men’s category, Moroccan champion Mohcine El Kouraji won the bronze medal in the "points race". In the juniors, his compatriot Mohamed Najib Sanbouli won the bronze in the "elimination race".
Champion Ashraf Daghmi won the gold medal on Thursday, July 14, the first day of the championship. Champions Mohsen Al-Kuraji, Ashraf Al-Daghmi, Youssef Badado, Munir Al-Azhari, Mohamed Naguib Sanbouli, Wassim Hammadi, Alaa Aziki and Ashraf Al Karimi also won silver medals.
Mohammed Belmahi, President of the Royal Moroccan Cycling Federation (FRMC), welcomed the exceptional performances, which, according to him, highlight the potential of Morocco in the field of sport and contribute to the country’s efforts to maintain a positive image abroad. "Having a strong presence in continental events such as the 2022 African Olympic Cycling Championship would help cement Morocco’s continental status in sport," added the official.
