Morocco Dominates African Muay Thai Championships, Clinches 11 Gold Medals

The Moroccan national Muay Thai team won the African champion title in both men’s and women’s categories. A total of eleven gold medals and three silver medals were won by Moroccan athletes during this competition organized from November 11 to 13 at the covered hall of the Cairo International Stadium.
Morocco did not rest on its laurels at the African Muay Thai championships despite very strong competition between the participants. But the Moroccan athletes managed to pull it off by snatching the African title in both the men’s and women’s categories.
The six gold medals of the men’s selection were won by Abdellah Al Saadi (- 57 kg), Othman Ghoni at (- 63.5 kg), Hamza Rachid (- 67 kg), Abdouali Zahidi (– 71 kg), Brahim Boudik (- 91 kg) and Zakaria Al Hana (- 91 kg). There were also two silver medals won by Amine Chetiwi (- 51 kg) and Othman Tahri (- 81 kg).
In the women’s category, there were five gold medals won by Omaïma Belwarath (– 48 kg), Meryem Moubarek (– 51 kg), Omaïma Belharcha (– 57 kg), Omaïma Abida (– 60 kg) and Zhour Bahar (– 63.5 kg). As for Salma Jebour, she came away with the silver medal in the – 54 kg category.
