Morocco Clinches 8 Medals, Including 2 Gold, at Mediterranean Karate Championships

Morocco won eight medals, including 2 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze. It was last Saturday during the first day of the Mediterranean Karate Championships being held in Limassol, Cyprus. 25 karateka (boys and girls) in the senior, junior and cadet categories are defending Morocco’s colors in the kumite and kata events.
The two gold medals were won by Douae El Mechout (cadets/under 54 kg) and Ouadie Sassioui (juniors/under 68 kg). The silver went to Othmane Chetoui (kumite) in the cadet category (+70 kg), in the kumite event, reports snrtnews.com.
The five bronze medals were obtained by Samir Sadini (under 52 kg) and Wail Soultani (under 57 kg) among the cadets and Aya Ouahra (+ 59 kg) in the junior category, and by the national team of cadets and juniors (girls) by teams (kumite).
At the end of the first day, Morocco with its eight medals occupies the 4th position, Egypt takes the lead in the standings with 49 medals ahead of Greece with 16 medals. Cyprus, the host country, is currently getting 15 medals.
