Morocco Dismantles Daesh-Linked Terror Cell, 4 Arrested in Joint Operation with Spain

The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) dismantled on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, a new terrorist cell close to the extremist organization "Daesh". A total of 4 people were arrested, including one in Spain.

The members of this cell have adhered to propaganda campaigns glorifying the bloody acts of "Daesh", while intensifying calls for retaliation in response to the death of the presumed "caliph" of this terrorist organization, said a BCIJ statement to MAP.

According to the authorities, they were organizing meetings to monitor the current situation on the Syrian-Iraqi scene and plan terrorist operations in response to the repeated calls of "Daesh" leaders targeting various countries in the world.

This operation made it possible to seize electronic equipment, mobile phones, balaclavas, as well as books and manuscripts of an extremist nature, the Ministry of the Interior said.

This joint security operation with Spain comes at a time when the terrorist threat looming over the two countries is growing, and when "Daesh" allies are intensifying their activities outside the areas of tension, through incitement campaigns in various countries, it is further indicated.

One of the members of this cell was arrested simultaneously in the suburbs of the Spanish capital, Madrid. As for the suspects, they will be brought before the courts at the end of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, the BCIJ concluded.
