Morocco’s New Development Model Report to be Presented to King Mohammed VI in January

The special commission in charge of developing the new development model for Morocco has completed its consultations. The report, currently in the final writing phase, should be handed over to King Mohammed VI no later than early January 2021.
After more than a year of work, the special commission in charge of developing the new development model for Morocco will submit its report to King Mohammed VI. The ceremony to hand over the said report, which is being finalized, is scheduled for next January.
While it was supposed to submit the report in June, the commission chaired by Chakib Benmoussa was granted an additional 6 months to submit its report on the new development model. The commission indicates that it has completed the consultations and started "a phase of articulation of the report" and "finalization of its writing".
For 10 months, the CSMD conducted 70 hearings and listening sessions, 113 working workshops, 35 citizen listening sessions organized in different cities of the Kingdom. Trips were also made by some of its members to nearly 30 sites in Morocco. In total, nearly 10,000 people were heard, the commission said in a statement. It also specifies that it will no longer be able to take into account in the development of this report the various contributions received on its platform and by mail after November 30.
It also invites citizens to continue to contribute to the debate on the issue of development in Morocco through free forums, and through reactions to the proposals and recommendations made by the speakers. According to the same press release, sections will be dedicated to this on the csmd.ma website.
