Morocco Considers Constitutional Reform Amid Development Commission Debate

The debate on the amendment of the constitution is picking up again with the special commission in charge of the new development model (CSMD).
Contrary to previous years when it was the political parties that demanded its reform, it is the Benmoussa commission that is claiming this reform, reports Assabah.
Several members of this commission finally acknowledge that the critical situation currently prevailing within the political class is due to the non-amendment of the constitutional reform. It therefore sets this as a sine qua non condition to overcome the current situation.
For the members of this commission, the development of the national economy should go through a revision of certain constitutional provisions. According to the members of the CSMD, the criticisms and various contradictory interpretations in vogue within certain political classes do not serve the interests of the Nation.
The same daily points the finger at the El Othmani government, as being the very proof of this "political dysfunction", due to the alliances that were created at the last minute before the installation of said government. According to the same source, the debate on the reopening of the constitutional reform is due to a deep reflection that goes beyond the narrow framework of political parties and partisan action.
