Morocco’s Desert Odyssey: Epic Bike Path Claims Global Spotlight

An international magazine reveals its annual ranking of the 10 most beautiful bike paths in the world. One of them is located in Morocco.
The Caravan Route in Morocco ranks third in the annual ranking of the 10 most beautiful bike paths in the world, established and revealed at the end of August 2025 by Time Out magazine. Cycling enthusiasts can travel 840 km from Imilchi to Tangier. The Caravan Route is preceded by Trans Dinarica in the Balkans, a greenway inaugurated in 2024, 5,500 km long and crossing 7 countries (including Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro and Albania). The Loire à Vélo circuit (France) tops the ranking. This 900 km circuit connects Nevers (Nièvre) to Saint-Brevin-les-Pins (Loire-Atlantique) via Orléans, Tours, Nantes and Angers.
The Shimanami Kaido (Japan) takes fourth place while the MizMal (Ireland) takes fifth place. Then come the Carretera Austral (Chile), the Kinderjijk windmill route (Netherlands). The Friendship Road (straddling Tibet and Nepal) takes eighth place. The Munda Biddi Trail (Australia) and the Great Divide (between Canada and the United States) complete the top 10.
To compile this ranking, Time Out took into account the setting but also the ease of access, services (hotels, repair shops, train availability), and heritage, according to Courrier Picard.
