Marrakech Outshines Global Hotspots in Happiness Ranking

A famous British magazine places a Moroccan city in its ranking of the happiest cities in the world. Which one is it?

Marrakech ranks 15th in the ranking of the 20 happiest cities in the world, established by the British magazine Time Out. It surpasses Dubai, United Arab Emirates (16th), Hanoi, Vietnam, 17th, Jakarta, Indonesia, 18th and Valencia, Spain, 19th. This Moroccan city is considered the best tourist destination in Morocco. A position it owes to its easy access and dynamic life. The city offers a perfect blend of history, luxury, adventure and easy access for European travelers. Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the medina is a true labyrinth of narrow alleys filled with spice vendors, craftsmen and colorful souks.

Jemaa El Fna Square, a global cultural symbol and an integral part of the human heritage listed by UNESCO, and the souks that surround it, are partly the charm of Marrakech. The red city is also the destination of the world’s great celebrities and rising stars. Last year, many of them flocked to the city to have a good time. Since 2024, the red city has been attracting more and more British people.

Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) tops the ranking of the 20 happiest cities in the world. It is followed by Medellín (Colombia) and Cape Town (South Africa). Then come Mexico City (Mexico), Mumbai (India), Beijing (China), Shanghai (China) and Chicago (United States). Seville (Spain) takes 9th place while Melbourne (Australia) takes 10th place. Then come Brighton (United Kingdom), Porto (Portugal) and Sydney (Australia). Glasgow (United Kingdom) closes the podium.
