Morocco Cracks Down on Illegal Tourist Facilities in Agafay Desert

Several restaurants and pools in the Agafay area, in the province of Al Haouz, have recently been demolished by the local authorities for lack of building permits.
These establishments have started to proliferate in the Agafay area due to the influx of tourists in the region. Mostly built without authorization, they offer poor quality services, damaging the image and reputation of the region as a tourist destination.
Faced with this situation, the authorities of Al Haouz have decided to demolish all the restaurants and pools built without legal authorization. The operation was carried out in coordination with the auxiliary forces and the Royal Gendarmerie. The responsibilities remain to be determined and the perpetrators of these projects as well as their accomplices to be sanctioned.
