Morocco’s COVID-19 Cases Continue to Decline as Delta Wave Recedes, Health Official Reports

The epidemiological situation in Morocco is showing a significant improvement. The indicators have not been in the red for several weeks, offering a glimmer of hope for a return to normal life. On this issue, the coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations at the Ministry of Health, Mouad Merabet, indicated that the downward phase has been continuing without any unpleasant surprises for 7 weeks.
"The decline of the Delta wave continues"! This is the title of the short commentary published by Mouad Merabet on his LinkedIn account. He explained that Morocco is still at the orange level with 4 regions at the green level, 7 regions at the orange level and only one region at the red level. "The most striking data in the last two weeks is that the number of patients who have left the intensive care and resuscitation services after an improvement in their health status is higher than the new admissions in the same services," reports the MAP.
He points out that for 17 consecutive weeks, the balance in resuscitation was red. Regarding the number of deaths, he reports a 33% decrease. As for the new serious cases, they have decreased by 41% compared to the week of September 20 to 26. According to the specialist, Morocco owes this improvement to several factors, including the smooth running of the election campaign and elections last month in compliance with restrictive and preventive measures.
"Now the challenge is to succeed in the back-to-school period, but also the lifting of the restrictions in force for a few days," he continued, while stressing the importance of vaccination, individual and collective preventive measures and strict compliance with the national therapeutic protocol.
