Morocco Reports Significant Drop in COVID-19 Cases and Deaths

Morocco is experiencing an epidemiological situation that is improving day by day. Last week, the incidence rate was 41/100,000 inhabitants. The number of deaths, on the other hand, has decreased by 23%.
With a decrease in the daily number of infections, critical cases and deaths, Morocco now presents epidemiological indicators that are reassuring. The transmission rate related to the Delta variant is also declining, informs Dr. Mouad Mrabet, coordinator of the National Public Health Emergency Operations Center at the Ministry of Health, in a publication on the social network LinkedIn. According to the expert, the health situation should see a clear improvement in the coming weeks, barring any surprises.
Last week, the incidence rate was 41/100,000 inhabitants, while it was 181/100,000 inhabitants a month earlier (August 2-8, 2021). This downward trend is also noted in the positivity rate among all tested people and the pressure on hospital capacity. "After eight consecutive weeks of high SARS-CoV-2 transmission (red criticality level), Morocco is moving to a moderate transmission level (orange level)," notes Dr. Mouad Mrabet.
"Three regions are at the green level, five are at the orange level and four at the red level. The level of testing this week at the national level was 392 tests/100,000, which is in line with international recommendations requiring at least 300 tests/100,000 inhabitants/week," explains the expert. As for the number of deaths, it has decreased by 23%. As of September 19, 2021, the Covid-19 reproduction rate is 0.91. Last week, the number of serious cases dropped significantly to 1,039 people.
Dr. Mouad Mrabet, as usual, did not fail to urge Moroccans to get vaccinated as soon as possible in order to limit the spread of new variants, while continuing to respect hygiene measures and barrier gestures.
