Morocco Coach Regragui Reshapes Squad for World Cup Qualifiers and Olympics

Walid Regragui, coach of the Moroccan national team, has decided to exclude certain Atlas Lions from his group and bring others back. The matches against Zambia and Congo scheduled for next June as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the participation in the Paris Olympic Games require it.
Walid Regragui is active for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers that will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, and the participation of the U23 team in the Olympic Games that will take place from July 26 to August 11 in Paris. He plans to review the final list selected for the June training camp. Romain Saïss, captain of the Moroccan team, Nasser Mazraoui, Sofiane Boufal, Selim Amallah, midfielder of the Valencia team in Spain and Zakaria Aboukhlal who did not participate in the friendly matches against Angola and Mauritania could thus find their way back to the den of the Atlas Lions.
The head coach of the senior team would be forced to exclude players like Chadi Riad, Oussama Azzouzi, Amir Richardson, Bilal El Khannous, Ilias Akhomach, Eliesse Ben Seghir who will participate in the Paris Olympic Games for the matches against Zambia and Congo, scheduled for June 7 and 11. Players who did not perform well during the last international break training camp are also not lined up for the upcoming matches.
Walid Regragui and his U23 counterpart, Tarik Sektioui, will have to hold a technical meeting in the coming days to try to find the best combination for the upcoming matches.
