Morocco Coach Regragui Focuses on Ounahi’s Fitness for World Cup Qualifiers

Walid Regragui, coach of the Atlas Lions, is counting on the midfielder of Olympique de Marseille (OM) Azeddine Ounahi for the matches against Zambia and Congo scheduled in June as part of the qualifications for the 2026 World Cup to be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.
On the recommendation of Walid Regragui, Azeddine Ounahi is following a strict training program at the Mohammed VI football complex. The matches against Zambia and Congo scheduled in June as part of the qualifications for the 2026 World Cup to be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada require it. The coach of the Atlas Lions is counting on the Olympique de Marseille (OM) midfielder. He will have to regain his physical form and rhythm before these two matches.
Recruited by Olympique de Marseille (OM) in the winter transfer window for 8 million euros thanks to his brilliant participation in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, punctuated by a semi-final, Azzedine Ounahi has so far failed to establish himself in the Phocaean city. In 33 games with OM this season, he has scored only two goals and provided one assist. The Moroccan international suffers from foot pains whose treatment requires injections every three months, reports the French newspaper L’Équipe.
