Morocco’s Atlas Lions Begin Training for Crucial 2026 World Cup Qualifier Against Zambia

Arriving early, some players from the Moroccan national team trained at the Mohammed VI football complex in Maâmoura (Salé), a few days before the match against Zambia scheduled in June as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifications, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.
On Thursday, it was time to train at the Mohammed VI football complex in Maâmoura. Some of the Atlas Lions summoned by Walid Regragui for Morocco’s next two matches against Zambia and Congo scheduled in June as part of the 2026 World Cup African qualifiers took part in their first training session.
Morocco will face Zambia on June 7 at the Grand Stade d’Agadir, before facing Congo on June 11 in Kinshasa for the 3rd and 4th rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which will be co-hosted by Mexico, Canada and the United States. The kick-off of this competition will be given on June 11, 2026 at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, while the final will be held on July 19 at the MetLife Stadium in New York.
With three points, Morocco (1 match played) is the leader of group E, tied with Tanzania, Zambia and Niger (2 matches played each). Congo is last with 0 points (1 match played). Last November 21, the Atlas Lions had beaten Tanzania on the pitch of the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, thus succeeding in their debut in the qualifications.
