Morocco’s Coach Regragui Backs Wydad for Club World Cup Success

A few days before the start of the Club World Cup, scheduled from February 1 to 13 in Morocco, national coach Walid Regragui has given his support to Wydad, the club with which he made his name as a coach in the sports world.
In an interview given to the FIFA website, the Moroccan technician reaffirmed his attachment to his club of heart. With the Reds, Regragui has almost swept everything during the previous season, with a Moroccan championship title, but above all a third triumph in the African Champions League.
With this performance, the club secured its ticket for the Club World Cup starting in less than a week in Morocco. The clubs of Real Madrid, Al-Hilal, Seattles Sounders, Flamengo, Auckland City are the other qualifiers. For Regragui, his former club can create a surprise and reach the final of the world tournament to face Real Madrid. To do this, the Reds must make a good start to the competition against the Saudis of Al Hilal.
"It should be a balanced match because Al-Hilal is a heavyweight in Saudi Arabia and Asia. It’s the Real Madrid of Asia. They also have fans and very high-level players. But the fact of playing at home will particularly help the Wydad team," he said. And he added that "the trap match is the one against Al-Hilal. If the team manages to get through, I believe they can reach the final to challenge Real Madrid. Anything is possible."
To justify his prediction, the Moroccan coach mentioned the club’s squad, which he says includes very good players, some of whom were with him during the World Cup in Qatar (Yahia Attiat Allah, Yahya Jabrane, Reda Tagnaouti) and others who will have their say during the Club World Cup, like Ayman El Hassouni.
