Morocco’s Coach Hervé Renard Slams Departure Rumors Ahead of African Cup

For some days, rumors have been circulating about a possible departure of the Atlas Lions coach Hervé Renard, after the next African Cup of Nations football (CAN) scheduled to be played in Egypt this summer. To cut short his detractors, it is on social networks that the French technician has decided to respond.
The national coach’s response is nothing short of scathing. The French technician, nicknamed the "White Wizard", has, from the outset of his position, clearly expressed his displeasure with the false news. "Rumors. These are lies invented by envious people... They are repeated by idiots. And believed by fools... Because intelligent people check before believing them," he writes, to deny the malicious rumors circulating in public opinion.
We remember this news reporting the imminent departure of Renard that the press has recently widely relayed, without however providing tangible elements of its eventuality.
Some time after the dismissal of Nasser Larguet, some media even mentioned a conflict between the 2012 and 2015 African Champion and the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lakjâa. However, the latter has, on a local radio station, denied this information, stating that the time is for the concentration of the Lions, in order to have an excellent African competition.
The French press, which has also taken up the information, goes with a peremptory tone, evoking the decision of the French technician to leave the Atlas Lions, on the morrow of the largest football competition on the continent. What Renard has never confirmed, recalling moreover on several occasions his commitment and his attachment to the Lions.
