Morocco Closes Beaches in Two Coastal Towns as COVID-19 Cases Surge

All the beaches of the coastal municipalities of Sidi Rahal and Soualem Trifia have been closed since Sunday, August 23 at midnight. This is the decision taken by the local authorities of the province of Berrechid, due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
The decision to close the beaches was taken on Saturday by the authorities, faced with the multiplying cases of contamination. Especially since it is difficult for those who frequent the beaches to respect the preventive measures, particularly the one related to social distancing.
A statement from the prefecture of the province of Berrechid calls on the inhabitants to respect this measure and to have a patriotic spirit in the fight against an invisible enemy but which is causing enough damage, specifies the same source.
