Morocco Climbs to 74th in Global Innovation Index, Ranks 3rd in Africa

Morocco is ranked 74th worldwide, according to the 2019 Global Innovation Index. This news is published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in collaboration with various other international actors and institutions.
With a score of 31.63 out of 100, Morocco occupies the 74th place among the 129 economies covered by the 2019 edition of the Global Innovation Index (GII). This position allows Morocco to gain two more places than in 2018; it aligns itself behind South Africa (63rd) and Tunisia (70th).
With its two places, the Kingdom positions itself in third place on the continent. Globally, Switzerland comes before Sweden and the United States.
In terms of investment in innovation (Inputs), Morocco has achieved good results. Moreover, Morocco’s "Education" component seduces to the point that it is ranked 47th. A clear progression, unlike last year. At the commercial and competitive levels, the Kingdom is ranked 52nd and 49th respectively. On the other hand, it loses a place in the sustainable development sector and inherits the 47th place.
To obtain these results, the officials were interested in 80 indicators that take into account a broad vision of innovation and cover, in particular, the political environment, education, infrastructure and business development.
