Morocco Ranks 83rd in UN Global Knowledge Index, Trailing Tunisia

Morocco ranks 83rd out of 138 countries in the 2020 Global Knowledge Index (GKI) ranking. It ranks just behind Tunisia (82nd) and far ahead of Algeria (103rd).
This ranking is established by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation. It has been established annually since 2017 and allows to monitor the knowledge performance of countries in seven main areas. These are pre-university education, technical and vocational education and training, higher education, research, development, innovation, information and communication technologies, the economy and the conduciveness of the general environment.
Finland tops the ranking, 3rd in the ranking, behind the United States and Switzerland, first in the global ranking. As for France, it ranks 20th, far behind Japan, 12th, and Germany (11th). While the United Arab Emirates are in first place among Arab countries in the ranking, the Seychelles are the first African country, ranking 50th.
