Morocco Ranks 2nd in Africa, 62nd Globally in DHL Connectedness Index

In Africa, Morocco is the 2nd most connected country and ranks 62nd globally. This is the result of the 2020 Global Connectedness Index conducted by DHL.
In the 2020 Global Connectedness Index, out of 169 countries, Morocco ranks 62nd with 55 points and thus wins five places compared to the previous edition. Developed by DHL, the index measures the global connectivity of each country based on the volume of its international flows relative to the size of its domestic economy and the degree of internationalization of these exchanges or their geographical distribution, reports L’Opinion.
Compared to the size of its national economy, Morocco has gained two places, making it the 102nd, and 48th in terms of the distribution of flows, i.e. three places gained, compared to the last edition where it was 51st. Regarding trade flows, the Kingdom is ranked 33rd globally and 58th in terms of capital flows, falling one rank. Regarding information flows and people flows, Morocco is respectively 89th and 67th.
At the level of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Morocco is 9th, behind the United Arab Emirates ranked first and 2nd after South Africa, on the African level, according to the index.
Globally, the Netherlands once again occupies the first place of the most connected countries in the world, followed by Singapore, Belgium, the United Arab Emirates and Ireland. Out of the 10 most connected countries, 8 are located on the European continent, making it the region of the world with the highest connectivity.
Even if the health crisis has allowed the development and increase of online communications and sales, current forecasts indicate a sharp decline in 2020. This decline could even reach the level of the financial crisis known between 2008-2009, the same source stressed.
