Morocco Cinema Beats Hollywood 2025 Box Office

Moroccan audiences favored national productions in 2025. Kingdom films recorded 1,032,785 admissions, compared to 871,005 for works from the United States.

According to the 2025 film report from the Moroccan Film Center, Moroccan films captured 47.24% of admissions, ahead of American productions, which represent 39.84% of attendance. In total, 2,186,106 tickets were sold in cinemas across the country.

This performance is all the more notable since cinemas screened 51 Moroccan films, compared to 94 American productions. Despite having almost twice fewer titles, national cinema thus attracted approximately 162,000 additional viewers.

"My Friend" dominates Moroccan box office

The film My Friend, directed by Raouf Sebbahi, leads Moroccan productions with 262,929 admissions and nearly 13.7 million dirhams in revenue. It is followed by Routini by Lotfi Aït Jaoui, seen by 186,086 viewers, then by Les Imposteurs by Hicham El Jebari, which totals 111,838 admissions.

The four top-ranking Moroccan films were produced without recourse to the Aid Fund. My Friend, Routini, Les Imposteurs and Casa Guira are all presented as self-productions in the CCM report.

Morocco’s cinema victory must however be nuanced on financial grounds. American films generated slightly more revenue, with 57 million dirhams, compared to 56.35 million for Moroccan productions. Their share of revenue reaches 43.92%, compared to 43.42% for Morocco.
