Morocco's Casablanca Airport Ramps Up Coronavirus Screening for China Flights

The Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca has tightened its preventive measures for the detection of any case of coronavirus, particularly among passengers arriving from China.

In Morocco, the strict procedures, devices and other measures to contain any potential epidemiological and viral case at this main entry point to the Kingdom have been deployed since the arrival of a flight from Beijing last Tuesday. According to the Map, these measures are part of the decision of the Ministry of Health to strengthen control and surveillance at international airports and ports, in order to detect any infection by this virus at an early stage.

In this sense, an emergency plan, established in three stages, has been put in place at the Mohammed V airport and is part of the national plan for vigilance and proactive response to all threats to public health, said Mohamed Moussif, chief medical officer of the Mohammed V airport.

The chief medical officer also recalled the availability of four health units, equipped with modern diagnostic equipment, mobilized at the three terminals of the airport. These units have emergency medicine stocks, and another for medical equipment for infectious and epidemic diseases, he specified. However, he added that in addition to the medical and paramedical staff, these units have four ambulances for the evacuation of suspected cases to the hospital designated by the ministry.

Passengers arriving from China, the majority of whom are students, welcomed with satisfaction these measures and protocols deployed by the Moroccan authorities to ensure the best conditions for these flights and contribute to health security.
