Morocco’s New Cabinet Reportedly Shrinks to 23 Ministers, Reshuffles Key Portfolios

How many ministerial portfolios in the new El Othmani government? Rumors are circulating and insist on the figure 23, but nothing is official. Confirmation by the Prime Minister’s Office of this number of ministerial seats could grate many teeth within the Moroccan political class.
Based on information from the Arabic-language website "Rabat today", Article 19 states that "the next governmental architecture will no longer include state secretaries and that the Ministry of Finance will encompass the portfolio of the civil service at a time when General Affairs will be attached to the Prime Minister’s Office."
El Othmani would have already "informed each political party" of the number of portfolios that will be allocated to it, according to the website, which specifies that the PJD will end up with six ministers, while the Rassemblement national des indépendants (RNI) will only be able to claim three ministerial posts. The other political parties will be content with just one ministerial post.
Some are already expressing their discontent with regard to the portfolios that would have been allocated. This is the case of Nabil Benabdallah, leader of the PPS, who according to Article19.ma, has made it known that his party is leaving the coalition. The leaders of the 4 other political formations are trying as best they can to obtain new portfolios, without much success.
