Morocco Braces for Scorching Weekend as Heatwave Grips Multiple Provinces

The Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) forecasts a scorching Saturday. Several provinces of Morocco including Beni Mellal, Laayoune, Kenitra, Safi and Essaouira are placed on orange alert.
A very hot Saturday in Morocco. The episode of intense heat, which began on Thursday, should continue at least until Saturday, mainly affecting the provinces of Fquih Ben Salah, Beni Mellal, Settat, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Rehamna, Marrakech, Azilal, Al Haouz, Youssoufia, Chichaoua, Taroudant, Tata, Tan-Tan, Guelmim, Sidi Ifni, Assa-Zag, Tarfaya, Laayoune, Boujdour, Es-Smara, Oued Eddahab and Aousserd, with temperatures ranging between 34 and 39°C, the DGM said in an orange alert bulletin.
The same temperatures were recorded on Friday in Kenitra, Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem, Skhirate-Temara, Khemisset, Sale, Rabat, El Jadida, Sidi Bennour, Nouaceur, Mohammadia, Mediouna, Benslimane, Berrechid, Casablanca, Safi, Essaouira, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Inezgane-Ait Melloul and Tiznit, the same source added.
Temperatures ranging between 34 and 38°C recorded on Friday in Oujda-Angad, Berkane, Driouch, Nador, Guercif and Taourirt should continue on Saturday. Strong gusts of wind (75-90 km/h) with dust storms were recorded on Friday from 8am to 1pm in the provinces of Laayoune, Es-Semara, Tarfaya, Sidi Ifni, Tiznit, Taroudant, Chichaoua and Al Haouz. This same phenomenon will occur on Saturday from 1am to 3pm in the provinces of Chichaoua, Al Haouz, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Midelt, Khenifra, Sefrou, Boulemane, Guercif, Taourirt, Driouch, Berkane, Nador, Jerrada, Oujda-Angad and Figuig, the DGM added.
