Morocco Braces for Intense Heat Wave as Temperatures Soar to 42°C (108°F)

It’s summer before its time. The hot weather persists in Morocco today and in the coming days, according to forecasts from the National Meteorology Directorate (DMN).
Hot weather is expected this Friday, May 31, especially in the interior plains, the interior of Souss, the far southeast, Gharb and Loukkos, DMN says.
In terms of temperatures, it will be 9 to 15 degrees this morning on the reliefs, 16 to 22 degrees on the coasts, the Oriental and the west of the southern provinces, and 22 to 27 degrees in the other regions.
In the afternoon, temperatures could reach 42 degrees. It is thus expected from 25 to 32 degrees on the reliefs and near the coasts, from 30 to 36 degrees on the Oriental, the Saiss, the southeastern slopes and the west of the southern provinces, and from 37 to 42 degrees on the northern and central plains, the phosphate plateaus and Oulmès and the east of the southern provinces.
Note that the strong wind persists in the Tangier area, which has led to the cancellation of all maritime links between Tangier-ville and Tarifa, in southern Spain.
