Morocco Bans Passenger Transport on Tricycles, Restricts Use to Goods Only

Tricycles will now only transport goods. The Minister of Transport made the announcement to the House of Advisors, during the oral question session.
Minister Abdelkader Amara was clear on the issue. The transport of people on board tricycles is now prohibited. He explains the decision by the fact that the highway code stipulates that three-wheeled motorcycles, also called tricycles, are used for something other than the transport of goods. In addition, this goes against many existing laws in Morocco.
The decision is now effective and applies to everyone. Moreover, the ministry is working to coordinate with the Ministry of the Interior, the police and the Royal Gendarmerie services.
According to the minister, about 40% of road accidents are caused by these tricycles, the number of which exceeds one million.
