Morocco’s INDH Tricycle Vendors Become Lifeline During COVID-19 Lockdown

The National Initiative for Human Development, launched by King Mohammed VI in 2005, is now proving its importance with the crisis related to the coronavirus. Its beneficiaries remain real aids in the fight against coronavirus.
Since its launch, the INDH has directed its efforts towards the most disadvantaged social strata through "small and medium-sized commercial activities" in order to help them have a stable income. Today, with the coronavirus pandemic, thousands of small vendors, beneficiaries of this initiative, on their INDH-stamped tricycles, "come to the rescue of millions of Moroccans forced to stay at home to avoid the spread of covid-19.
They provide families, particularly those in working-class neighborhoods, with food products such as fresh fish, fruits and vegetables, dairy products and other goods, honestly, without trying to take advantage of the situation to make money. They have deployed throughout Morocco to assist in their own way the confined families.
The public authorities, the statistical study centers and the High Commission for Planning would be well advised to collect, through them, information on the incomes of certain categories of the population, their consumption habits. But in the meantime, we can say that the INDH tricycles are helping the government to enforce the state of emergency, while serving the citizens.
