Morocco’s Tiznit-Dakhla Expressway on Track for 2021 Completion, Minister Says

In accordance with the partnership agreement signed in 2015 in the presence of King Mohammed VI, the construction work on the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway will be completed by the end of 2021. These are the assurances of the Minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water, Abdelkader Amara.
Abdelkader Amara went to see the progress of the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway project on site, reports the MAP. "All the work on this titanic project, whether the duplication of National Road No. 1 between Tiznit and Laâyoune or the widening of the road between Laâyoune and Dakhla, has been launched," the minister said.
According to him, the contracts for the 15 sections of this "strategic" project have been awarded and the construction of the engineering structures is being launched "in accordance with the deadline of the agreement which runs until the end of 2021".
The Tiznit-Laâyoune expressway is one of the components of the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway project. The realization of the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway is in line with the integrated development projects of the southern provinces planned by the new development model launched by King Mohammed VI in Laâyoune on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Green March.
With a total cost of around 10 billion DH, this 1,055 km project will reduce travel time and cost, improve traffic flow, service level, comfort and road safety, and facilitate the transport of goods between the southern cities of the kingdom and the major production and distribution centers.
