Morocco’s Atlas Lions Urged to Stay Grounded After Ghana Victory in AFCON 2021

Abdelkrim Merry, a player of the Moroccan national football team from 1977 to 1988, believes that the Atlas Lions should not rest on their laurels after their victory against Ghana. For the former player "nothing is yet won in a competition that has not revealed all its secrets".
Merry Krimau is delighted with the performance of the Moroccan team despite the constraints related to some injured players. He congratulates the Moroccans for showing determination and ambition, but they must "keep their feet on the ground, play match by match and respect their opponents in order to be able to obtain good results in this CAN".
Even if Morocco has been able to obtain good results against Ghana, it is important, he adds, to understand that the competition has just begun. "The next match will be against a Comoros team, less tough than Ghana, but which remains an opponent not to be underestimated," he said in an interview with SNRTnews.
Considering Morocco as the favorite team according to him seems presumptuous, especially since all the teams in this CAN are equal in terms of their performance. "We must first think about beating the Comoros. This is the most important thing at the moment. The national team has not yet secured qualification for the next round. A victory against the Comoros will allow Morocco to negotiate the last match against Gabon calmly," stressed the former striker.
