Morocco Aims to Secure AFCON Round of 16 Spot Against Comoros

Morocco is making its second outing this Friday at the AFCON against the Comoros. A match that the Atlas Lions will have to win at all costs to guarantee their passage to the second round, especially with the return of some key players who were absent in the first match.
After their first victory against Ghana, the Moroccans face the Comorians, defeated in their first match. A match that is within the reach of the Lions, but they will have to be careful not to fall into the trap, warned the coach.
Fortunately, for this match, coach Vahid Halilhodzic will recover several defensive and offensive assets absent for various reasons in the first outing. These include Youssef En-Nesyri, Ayoub El Kaâbi and Aymane Barkouk, and Achraf Bnecharki called up on Tuesday evening to replace Badr Benoun, the central defender of Al Ahly, still affected by the aftermath of his Covid-19 contamination.
With this squad, the national team will have to deliver a better performance than the one presented against Ghana, considered very average by supporters and analysts. A victory this afternoon would propel Morocco to the second round and allow them to approach the 3rd group match with serenity.
For the record, the two teams have met twice in the past. Morocco has one win and one draw. A statistic mentioned by the Comoros coach, who affirmed that "it was another context. We are in the competition, while they were qualification matches", adding that "this Moroccan team is very strong, it will try to go for the title. It’s up to us to thwart them".
