Morocco Arrests Over 53,000 for Violating COVID-19 Emergency Measures

Arrests for violation of the state of health emergency continue. Over the past 24 hours, 3,277 people were arrested, of whom 1,820 were taken into custody, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
With these arrests made over the past 24 hours, Morocco has recorded a total of 53,413 people arrested across all its cities, and 28,869 referred to the competent public prosecutors after the custody procedure.
The cities of Casablanca and Rabat are at the top of the ranking, with 7,437 and 7,147 arrests respectively. Then come Kénitra with 5,538, Marrakech with 4,938 arrests, Oujda, Agadir, Salé, Meknès, Béni Mellal, and Tétouan have recorded less than 5,000 arrests. Fès totals 1,571 arrests, El Jadida, 1,451. The city of Settat recorded 1,334 arrests, Tanger, and Ouarzazate, 1,060. As for Laâyoune, Errachidia, Safi, Taza and Al Hoceima, they recorded less than 1,000 arrests.
The DGSN ensures that "its services will intensify control operations in all cities in order to impose the strict and firm application of the state of emergency", the only guarantee of the health safety of all citizens.
