Morocco Arrests ISIS-Linked Extremist in Joint Operation with US

An extremist linked to the terrorist organization Daesh was arrested on Thursday by the services of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) in Salé in collaboration with the United States.
In a statement, the BCIJ indicates that the arrest of this individual and the thwarting of his terrorist project "are part of the ongoing efforts deployed by the Moroccan security services to face the dangers of violent extremism and combat terrorist threats".
This arrest was carried out in collaboration with the United States, the statement recalls, according to which the suspect had prepared digital content in which he pledges allegiance to the alleged emir of the terrorist organization "Daesh" and had planned his departure to the camps of this organization before "joining a terrorist project in Morocco using explosives".
During the searches carried out in his home, the agents seized electronic devices, equipment and remains of products suspected of being used in the preparation of explosives. These elements must be submitted to scientific expertise, it is specified.
Aged 24, the suspect was taken into custody and will be brought before the justice system at the end of the ongoing investigation.
