Morocco Approves Local Production of COVID-19 Test Kits, Aims for 1 Million Monthly Output

The MAScIR Foundation has just obtained authorization to produce and market a 100% Moroccan diagnostic kit. An authorization that was granted to it by the Ministry of Health after several months of waiting.
After obtaining the green light from the Ministry of Health, the start-up moldiag, a subsidiary of the MAScIR Foundation, announced in a press release the launch of "large-scale" production of a 100% Moroccan sars-coV2/Covid-19 diagnostic kit. The company will be able to produce one million tests per month and has already received an initial order of 100,000 units from the Ministry of Health.
Following the obtaining of national and international validations last May, the company has equipped itself with the necessary materials and instruments to launch the production of its diagnostic kit and completed, on June 30, the laboratory production of 10,000 tests as trials delivered to the public authorities.
These diagnostic kits could be available on the market. However, no details have been given on the financing of the production of these tests or on the price. The 100% Moroccan kit has been subjected to a series of validation processes in the national and international reference biological and virological centers, which have attested to its effectiveness and reliability, the MAScIR Foundation said.
It should be recalled that the foundation is a research and development center in medical biotechnology. Established since 2007, it has been developing molecular diagnostic kits for certain infectious and cancerous diseases in Morocco and Africa, as well as a platform dedicated to biosimilar drugs for about ten years. This has allowed it to quickly design and mass-produce these Covid-19 screening kits so necessary for Morocco in these times of health crisis, notes TelQuel.
