Morocco Launches Domestic COVID-19 Test Kit Production, Aims for 1 Million Monthly

The 100% Moroccan Coronavirus diagnostic kit is now available. The Moldiag research and development center created by the MAScIR Foundation, which is the depositary, has already received an initial order of 100,000 units from the Ministry of Health.

After the trials, this test has obtained the validation of approved national and foreign laboratories, including the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, and the Pasteur Institute of Paris, placing it at the same level as the tests used internationally.

With the product registration certificate issued by the Ministry of Health on July 21, 2020, Moldiag can now produce and market its kit with a production capacity of 1 million diagnostic tests per month.

To date, the startup has benefited from the trust of the Ministry of Health, with an initial order of 100,000 tests. Discussions are underway with potential local distributors to make the MAScIR Sars-CoV2/Covid-19 Kit available.

This national innovation will thus make a competitive diagnostic kit available to Moroccan laboratories. This will strengthen the screening capacity of health centers since the resurgence of coronavirus cases in Morocco.
