Morocco Accuses Private Labs of Mishandling COVID-19 Tests, Reporting Failures

The Moroccan Ministry of Health is making serious accusations against the private laboratories recently authorized to carry out Covid-19 screening tests.
According to the statements of the Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb, the accredited private laboratories are not up to the task in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic that continues to rage in Morocco, reports Al Massae. The proof, the ministry’s services have noted several anomalies related to the prices proposed by these laboratories, and the reporting of certain cases by the private laboratories to the health authorities.
Realizing the situation, the ministry has set up a committee that is studying these infractions. It ensures that it wants to avoid any "bargaining" in the process of detecting cases.
In a circular, the minister had updated the specifications relating to Covid-19 screening by the accredited private laboratories. These laboratories have therefore been authorized to carry out microbiological analyzes of Covid-19, "provided that they comply with the conditions of health and biological safety and systematically report confirmed cases of Covid-19".
