Morocco Unveils AI-Powered Agricultural Robot to Boost Farm Productivity

New developments for the agricultural sector for which the first artificial intelligence robot 100% Moroccan will soon be available.
Among 45 projects selected as part of the Al Khawarizmi program, the artificial robot project was selected. This creation aims to improve the agricultural production of the kingdom and is intended for medium and large farms. This robot combines the power of artificial intelligence algorithms and robotics. It will mainly perform three tasks, namely weeding, harvesting and soil analysis, reports Challenge.
Cadi Ayyad University, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, the Moroccan research center MASCIR and the BENAMR agricultural estate as well as a dozen doctoral students and researchers are involved in this project led by Hajar Mousannif, a qualified professor, coordinator of the data science master’s program, department of computer science, Semlalia faculties of Cadi Ayyad University.
According to the professor, the robot will also help reduce the arduousness of tasks associated with agricultural professions and invest in difficult areas without exposing people. The project was made possible thanks to a grant of nearly 2.2 million dirhams.
It should be noted that the robot will be available for sale and rental with subscription formulas for software updates.
